Dating An Old Shotgun

Post by hunterextreme » Mon Feb 18, 2019 3:39 pm

Hey guys and gals!
After my dad passed away last year, I inherited an old Stevens Model 58 12 gauge. Over the years, only thing my dad told me about it is that he wasn’t sure the last time it was fired and can’t remember where he got it from. After doing some research online, I am thinking it is older than 1961 as there is no serial number on it.

There is no serial number, only 1 Manufacturing Stamp on top of the barrel just forward of the breach.
They are as Follows- 25L I would take a picture but I see I can't post pics anyway.
If anyone recognizes these markings and can help me finally figure out how old this thing is I would surely appreciate it.
additional info:
2 3/4" Chamber
2 rd. Magazine.
Full Choke
Left Side of Barrel- STEVENS MODEL 58-12GA
SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION
CHICOPEE FALLS MA. USA
Right Side of Barrel- PROOF TESTED 12 GUAGE
2 3/4 INCH CHAMBER

As I said I would be grateful for any information regarding its actual age.
Thank You.

Good idea.
I wasnt going to shoot it anyway.
Rather have it go to some collector.
BUT....... Shipping is going to be a problem.
I have more old shotgun shells someplace.
Ill find them someday.
